Biblical Yellow

If you read the posts on the Yellow Personality, then you know Peter was most definitely a Yellow, but why? What about Peter made him such a people-person? Let’s look at a couple of Peter’s finer moments in Scripture to understand just why we have labeled him as our Biblical Yellow.

One of the wonderful attributes of our Yellow is their ability to speak first, think second. If you know someone who you know is a Yellow, then you most likely know what I am talking about. These individuals like to talk and usually spend little if no time thinking about what they are going to say. It is more important to the Yellow that they are able to make everyone feel welcomed, or noticed and not as important to the Yellow is the purpose or response to their message. With this trait in mind, there is one shining example of this in Mark 9: 2-9.

Mark 9: 2-9

2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.

5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)

7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”

Now only a Yellow would witness such a holy even and in the complete awe of the moment feel the need to be the “host”. I often joke with Yellows who find great peace in identifying with Peter and say that I wonder how many times Christ wanted to say, “Peter, can you get it right just one time?” It seems our Yellow always lead with his lips and most of the time, got it wrong.

I am not picking on Yellows at all. Let’s not forget that it was Peter who had enough faith in Christ to attempt walking on water. Sure, he fell due to his lack of faith, but at least he had enough faith to trust first and ask questions second. This is one of the great strengths and weaknesses of our Yellows. As a Yellow, they have passion to be admired by all, they do not know less that 100% when it comes to involvement with others. This is why Peter was such a great disciple. He loved Jesus and believed in him, and his passion reflected it.

Passion? Peter? You may wonder why I refer to Peter as having passion. Well, when news that the tomb was empty, who was it that ran to the tomb and looked in it? Who was it that boldly walked into the crowd after Pentecost and preached the Gospel of Christ? Who was it that stood to defend Jesus by slashing the ear of the High Priest’s servant? And who was it that Christ sought to redeem after his resurrection? Answer… Peter.

Jesus seemed to find something in Peter than many prior to him disregarded. Where others saw only a hot head, Jesus saw someone willing to go to the ends of the earth preaching the Gospel if asked. Peter lived on his connection with Christ and knew deeply that he could do nothing without that close walk. Peter, as a Yellow, got his energy from those around him. After Jesus, he realized the importance of choosing wisely those in his court of friends. Peter gives us all hope, as do most of the people Christ chose to serve as our mentors and heroes.

So if you are a Yellow and think that all you are is a fast talking people person without a cause, remember Peter. He found great peace and comfort in his relationship with Christ. Christ found something special in Peter and was willing to take the time to develop it into something that He could use. Don’t forget that it was not a red who was charged with the responsibility of the new Christian Church… It was a Yellow.
